Position Purpose
A teacher of Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy will be a loving, Christian role model who is dedicated to the teaching craft. Teachers are to present themselves in good taste and without offense. Promptness and initiative are to be commended. Teachers foster a Christian education by their example. The teacher is always in complete charge of the children while in the classroom and on school grounds. Love for children is a prime trait that each teacher should have. Teachers welcome visits of the Headmaster in their classrooms. As they utilize every opportunity for professional growth, teachers seek to prepare themselves better for the sacred calling.

Employment
This 10-month position follow the school calendar as approved by the Board of Trustees. Employment is at-will according to the Personnel Policy Manual.

The Person We are Looking for:

  • Will teach the Word of God and the required curriculum for the assigned grade
  • Will assist the Principal in establishing a Christian learning environment in the school
  • Will work with students and their families to assist them in becoming responsible members of the Body of Christ

Academic/Professional Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Elementary Education or Secondary Education
  • Professional Educators License from the Oklahoma Department of Education or taking steps toward such licensure
  • Member in good standing with Christian church, LCMS congregation preferred
  • Will uphold the Biblical truths and confessions of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod
  • Will continue to advance professionally through reading, conference attendance, and further study.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Relate instruction to the Christian objectives in the school
  • Communicate effectively with students, commending and reinforcing good conduct and achievement
  • Communicate effectively with parents, both in written form and in personal contact when necessary
  • Use wholesome motivational techniques that help produce the desired learning environment
  • Utilize technology-based systems for curriculum, assessment, and data
  • Maintain effective Christian discipline in the classroom
  • Routinely/daily praying with and for their students in class
  • Counsel with students individually when necessary
  • Actively develop positive parent-teacher relationships and promote parent-teacher partnerships
  • Keep the classroom appearance interesting, stimulating, neat and pleasant
  • Through data interpretation, observation, and personal interaction, use appropriate procedures to evaluate student attendance and achievement
  • Execute the standardized testing program, record, study, and utilize the results
  • Train and supervises aides and volunteers when appropriate
  • Assist with special school programs, religious services, projects and extracurricular activities as agreed on and according to one’s contract or other written agreement
  • Be responsible for playground, lunchroom, hallway and other supervision as assigned by the Principal
  • As able, attend school programs and activities in which your students are participating
  • Grow professionally through educational readings, attendance at workshops and participation in graduate courses
  • Maintain a substitute teacher folder that contains the daily schedule, class list and materials used
  • Attend faculty meetings and all other meetings and events required by Headmaster
  • Cooperation with school staff in the improvement and smooth functioning of the school
  • Professional communication and relationships with students, parents and staff
  • Be involved in the worship life of one’s church
  • Other duties as directed by the Executive Director, Principal, and/or Board of Trustees
