STUDENT MINISTRY INTERN

• REPORTS TO: NEXT GEN PASTOR
• RELATES CLOSELY WITH: STUDENT MINISTRY TEAM, CONGREGATIONAL PASTORS, STUDENT SERVE TEAMS, PARENTS
• CLASSIFICATION: STUDENT MINISTRY INTERNSHIP
• PAY RANGE: UP TO 20 HOURS A WEEK ($18.45hr)

WestGate Church is passionate about raising up new leaders to be and to make disciples of Jesus. As a Student Ministry Intern, you will grow in your ability to minister within the context of students and families. Our internships are designed to cultivate young leaders, providing them with training, experience, and discipleship. This opportunity will give you a perspective of vocational ministry, specifically learning to manage an effective Student Ministry program and outreach. As an intern, you’ll support student ministries events across all campuses, each designed to help students say YES to Jesus and passionately follow him. This part-time role (Sunday - Thursday) may require occasional work on Fridays and Saturdays and evening hours, providing exceptional ministry-related event assistance to the student team.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-year minimum of serving with students.
• Positive, professional, self-starter who can organize, adjust, and prioritize responsibilities and projects with minimal direction.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality, handling situations with discretion, diplomacy, and tact.
• Exhibits personal and professional discernment and discretion.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management and attention to detail.
• Highly organized with ability to execute logistics for large-scale projects overseen by the Student Ministry Pastor.
• Superior communication skills: written and verbal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Student Ministries Pastors in planning, preparing, and executing services and events.
• Attend weekly meetings with the Student Ministries Team to learn how to facilitate both small and large group settings.
• Prepare for Student Ministry services and events, with a primary focus on Wednesday life groups/events.
• Communicate weekly to serve team with relevant details for upcoming services and life groups.
• Intentionally connect with students before and after Sunday services and midweek groups.
• Co-lead a student life group.
• Help lead weekend services and midweek life groups from setup to cleanup.
• Assist in preparing and leading camps, rallies, and other significant yearly events (Oscars, graduation, missions support).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Stand for extended periods.
• Perform walking, bending, twisting, and kneeling.
• Navigate stairs.
• Demonstrate finger and hand dexterity for computer, instrument, and tool operation.
• Possess specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
• Lift and carry up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.

• Operate in a professional office or church environment with standard equipment like computers, printers, filing cabinets, and telephones.
• Lead in settings with various equipment, cables, stage lights, loud sounds, and visual stimuli.
• Work typically occurs Sunday-Thursday, with occasional Fridays, Saturdays, or evenings as needed.
