Job Description
Job Title: Plant Manager
Job Description
The Plant Manager leads all plant operations and holds full responsibility for safety, product quality, employee engagement, production efficiency, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and customer satisfaction. This role drives operational excellence through strong leadership, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement, while ensuring the plant meets performance, cost, and service objectives.
Responsibilities
The plant operates as a national manufacturing facility producing fiberglass mat materials for shingle manufacturing, supporting broader East Coast operations. The site employs approximately 50–60 people and runs a Monday through Friday schedule with a 7:00 a.m. start time and an 8-hour shift, with occasional weekend work as needed to meet production and customer requirements. The environment includes office, manufacturing, and warehouse areas. The role requires regular presence on the plant floor, where conditions are not temperature regulated; it can become hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Employees, including the Plant Manager when on the floor, must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator, steel-toed boots, hard hat, ear protection, and eye protection. The company covers the cost of safety shoes and prescription safety glasses. Facial hair that interferes with respirator sealing is not permitted, and employees must wear clothing made of natural fibers. The plant environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, hot and cold temperatures, and occasionally to high or elevated areas, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and the risk of electrical shock and vibration. Roles at the site may require standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and the ability to lift and move heavy objects. Certain positions may also require color differentiation, distance vision, and depth perception. The culture emphasizes safety, quality, continuous improvement, and sustainability, and offers competitive compensation and benefits, as well as opportunities for career growth, including potential relocation to new plant sites as they are opened.
