Essential Functions:

1. Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in plumbing/irrigation systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair in a timely manner.

2. Analyze blue prints, schematics and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems within the district.

3. Coordinates with assigned staff and/or other trades for the purpose of completing plumbing projects and work orders efficiently.

4. Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.

5. Inspects plumbing systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.

6. Installs plumbing systems and fixtures (e.g. hot water heaters, drinking fountains, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities.

7. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.

8. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

9. Conduct periodic inspections and tests of all plumbing installations in district buildings as needed to insure safe working conditions.

10. Must operate district owned vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner during course of performing regular job duties.

11. Respond to and complete all district maintenance work orders as directed in a timely and efficient manner.

General Functions:

1. Communicate professionally and effectively with all employees, students and the public at all times.

2. Serve as exemplary role model in professional conduct, dress code, communications, safety and attendance.

3. Maintains assigned vehicle, equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition.

4. Consistently follow and promote all district safety rules, protocols and regulations.

5. Transport a variety of tools, equipment and supplies to various district sites in a safe manner.

6. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and Director of Operations.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Extensive knowledge of plumbing maintenance, diagnosis and repair required with some general facility maintenance experience preferred. Must be safety oriented and have the ability to perform all duties using proper and safe techniques and procedures.

Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent required. Post-secondary technical training is preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years combined experience with plumbing maintenance, repair and general facility maintenance preferred.

Certificate/License: Valid and current Indiana driver’s license is required. Must possess or be working toward a Journeyman Plumber certificate.
