POSITION TITLE: Firewatch
REPORTS TO: Mill Services Manager
A fire watch is the person or persons responsible for continuously observing hot work activity to detect and respond to fires during hot work operations.
Primary Responsibilities: - Ensuring firefighting equipment is ready
- Keeping the area free of combustible materials
- Watching for sparks, slag, or heat sources
- Warning workers if there's an excessive risk of fire
- Extinguishing small fires immediately
- Calling emergency services if necessary
- Handling components, modules, and systems of heavy equipment
- Converting heavy equipment with various mobile accessories
- Observing relevant safety, accident prevention, and environmental regulations
- Perform routine and Pre/ Post Trip inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor.
- Clean equipment
- Maintain and protect all property.
- Maintain all required certifications required by OSHA and company safety programs.
- Provide outstanding customer service operations.
- Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
EDUCATION - High School Diploma or GED
- Phoenix on-site training as required
REQUIRED SKILLS - Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, and or climb without assistance
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to work in extreme heat or cold weather/environmental conditions
- Compliance with all Phoenix Global Safety Policies & Procedures, including wearing specific Personal Protective Equipment required for various job functions.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical & drug screen.
- Must be willing to work assigned shift

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
