Private Family in Hermitage, Pennsylvania Seeking a Domestic Couple Position: Full-Time Live-In or Live-Out Domestic Couple (Companion & Handyman)
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (flexibility required)
Salary: $100,000-$200,000 combined annual compensation, depending on experience and arrangement
Start Date: ASAP (targeting placement before end of May)

About the Family A traditional and well-established family in Hermitage, Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated and professional domestic couple to provide comprehensive household and personal support. The principals are private, conservative, and value discretion, structure, and a well-maintained home environment. The primary focus of this role is supporting the father, who requires assistance with activities of daily living due to mobility limitations and dementia. The mother is highly private and accustomed to a structured household, and the couple will play a key role in maintaining both the care standards and the home environment. This is a home with part-time support already in place, and the family is looking to elevate the quality and consistency of care through a committed couple who can work collaboratively and long-term.
Home Size: Multiple properties owned, including primary residence and additional homes
Household Staff: One housekeeper/groundskeeper (weekly) and three part-time caregivers
Responsibilities Companion: - Provide compassionate, patient care to the father, including assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Support mobility needs, including standing, walking, and transfers
- Assist with and help facilitate a structured daily program of exercise and cognitive stimulation
- Monitor emotional well-being, particularly related to dementia symptoms, and help maintain a calm, reassuring environment
- Coordinate with other caregivers to ensure continuity of care, including overnight routines and hygiene support
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, bed linens, and meal preparation
- Accompany father to appointments, errands, and outings
Handyman / Household Support: - Provide physical assistance with mobility support and lifting when needed, ensuring safety as care needs evolve
- Perform general handyman duties across multiple family-owned properties, including basic repairs, maintenance, and upkeep
- Assist with maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-functioning home environment
- Support household operations and step in as needed for errands or additional tasks
- Travel between properties as required to oversee maintenance needs
Shared Responsibilities: - Maintain a consistently clean, sanitized, and organized home in line with the family's standards
- Accompany the family on occasional visits to a nearby summer home
- Provide respectful, discreet, and professional support at all times
- Foster a calm, structured, and supportive household environment
Ideal Candidate & Personality The ideal couple is compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented, with a strong sense of professionalism and respect for traditional values. The companion should be nurturing, patient, and experienced in working with dementia and mobility challenges. The handyman partner should be capable, proactive, and physically able to assist with lifting and property maintenance. Both individuals should demonstrate excellent communication, discretion, and emotional intelligence. A calm demeanor is essential, particularly when supporting a principal who may become anxious or resistant if he feels unsafe. This role is best suited for a couple seeking a long-term placement where they can make a meaningful impact on quality of life and household stability.
Requirements - Prior experience in private households, caregiving, or similar roles
- Experience with dementia care and mobility assistance strongly preferred
- Physically capable of assisting with transfers and lifting (or working as a team to do so safely)
- Strong handyman and property maintenance skills
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Individuals with professional, respectful demeanor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Willingness to align with the family's traditional and conservative household values
- Flexibility to work the required schedule and adapt as care needs evolve
- Authorized to work in the United States
