Location Twin Cities About the Job The School of Public Health Division of Biostatistics and Health Data Science (BHDS) is seeking a Biostatistician (9791BO Research Professional 5-Biostatistics) to join the Minnesota Complex Innovative Design Research Lab (M-CIDeR; led by Drs. Joseph Koopmeiners, Thomas Murray, Lianne Siegel and David Vock. M-CIDeR is a collaboration of BHDS faculty with the goal of elevating clinical and behavioral research at the University of Minnesota through the development and implementation of complex, innovative study designs. M-CIDeR personnel have expertise related to adaptive designs, studies of adaptive interventions, pragmatic trials, and other innovative designs. Current projects involve clinical trials in critical care, clinical decision support/implementation science, and language development. Salary and Work Arrangements Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually, dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The position will work at the University Office Plaza and hybrid work options are currently available with a minimum of 2 days in office during regular business hours. Responsibilities Clinical trial design and planning (30%): Support implementing simulation studies to evaluate trial operating characteristics for different designs; protocol development; writing statistical analysis plans for both grant applications and federally‑funded projects. Data management (30%): cleaning and manipulating data using REDCap and R; preparation of study datasets consistent with the trials resource‑sharing plan; development of randomization schedules and online randomization applications. Data analysis (40%): preparing reports for investigators and the Data and Safety Monitoring Board on participant recruitment, follow‑up, adverse events, estimated treatment/intervention effects, etc.; interpreting results for peer‑reviewed manuscripts, presentations, and other forms of dissemination. Qualifications MS in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field with one or more years of research training. Demonstrated competence using R for data analysis and simulation.
