Job Description

Position Summary Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Western Colorado University. This role reports directly to the Head Women’s Basketball Coach and assists with coaching, recruiting, and compliance tasks. Responsibilities Organize and conduct practices and conditioning sessions. Coordinate distribution, collection, and storage of athletic equipment and manage associated fees for lost gear. Recruit student‑athletes in accordance with university policy and NCAA DivisionII regulations. Assist the Head Coach in recruiting activities and maintain team eligibility. Ensure student‑athletes meet academic standards by encouraging attendance, monitoring grades, and coordinating schedules. Support the psychological and emotional well‑being of team members through mentoring and guidance, and seek professional help when necessary. Maintain compliance with Western Colorado University, NCAA DivisionII, RMAC, and other governing regulations. Adhere to budgeting, cash handling, and card policies set by the university. Participate in Athletic Department functions, meetings, and university committees as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. General knowledge of NCAA DivisionII basketball practices and regulations. 1–2 years playing basketball experience. 1–2 years basketball coaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Coaching and competition experience at the collegiate level. Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $40,560 (FLSA exempt). Comprehensive health insurance, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year, free tuition for dependents enrolled full‑time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
